The most notable programs from African &amp; Proud includes Culture Connect Africa, Afroyanga Bootcamp, Afro-Cuisine, WikiClassroom and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>African &amp; Proud: Community Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are seeking a dynamic and experienced <strong>Community Manager<\/strong> who is passionate about community engagement, digital collaboration, and the Wikimedia Foundation\u2019s mission. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Wikimedia movement, including Wikipedia and its sister projects, and experience in managing and growing online communities. As the Community Manager, you will be responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and active community of volunteers, editors, and supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Community Engagement:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing community members (editors, contributors, and volunteers) to foster engagement and collaboration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Act as the primary point of contact for community members, responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and providing support.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create and implement strategies for growing and engaging the community, with a focus on diversity and inclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Content &amp; Project Development:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Coordinate and support community-driven projects focused on increasing African content on Wikimedia platforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help organize virtual and in-person events, including edit-a-thons, training sessions, and community meetups.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the development of educational materials and resources for new and existing community members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Communication and Advocacy:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop and distribute newsletters, updates, and other communication to keep the community informed of key initiatives, upcoming events, and new opportunities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advocate for the importance of African representation and participation within the global Wikimedia community.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate with other Wikimedia affiliates, NGOs, and partner organizations to align efforts and strengthen the impact of our community work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Monitoring &amp; Reporting:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Monitor community discussions, identify emerging trends, and report on community health metrics and activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyze feedback from community members and identify areas for improvement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regularly report on community development efforts and key achievements to senior leadership and stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Conflict Resolution &amp; Moderation:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain a positive and respectful atmosphere within the community, ensuring that members adhere to the organization\u2019s code of conduct.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address conflicts or issues that may arise within the community, using diplomacy and constructive solutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Training &amp; Capacity Building:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide training and mentorship to new community members, especially those unfamiliar with Wikimedia platforms or the NGO&#8217;s initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organize and facilitate webinars and workshops on Wikimedia editing, project management, and community building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Experience:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in community management, preferably in the nonprofit, digital, or open knowledge sectors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with the Wikimedia movement or in a related field (e.g., Wikipedia editing, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven track record of building and sustaining online communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skills and Knowledge:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong understanding of the Wikimedia Foundation\u2019s goals, policies, and the broader open knowledge ecosystem.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong organizational and project management skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in social media platforms and community management tools (e.g., Discourse, Slack, or similar platforms).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Personal Attributes:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passionate about African culture, heritage, and empowerment through digital inclusion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A strong sense of initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diplomatic and solution-oriented with strong conflict resolution skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open to learning and adapting in a fast-changing digital environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wide experience with Wikipedia and\/or sisters project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Desirable Qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experience working with volunteer-driven initiatives or within a multicultural and diverse environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarity with other open-source platforms and content management systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of African languages, cultures, or regional digital ecosystems is a plus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience in organizing virtual events or webinars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compensation &amp;
